Introduction

Rinaldo is the first opera composed in London by Georg Friedrich Händel. Represented in 1711, it obtained a resounding success: no other work of the time was so represented, and this is not surprising. "Rinaldo" is a veritable musical and scenic firework. The public remains fascinated by the wealth of talent arias and by the geniality of the music. It is in this work that there are some of the most famous arias written by Haendel (just to name two: the "Cara Sposa" and the famous "Lascia ch’io pianga"). And then the magic of special effects: the hero Rinaldo, accompanied by the sound of the trumpets and the roar of drums, leads his men into battle, and the sorceress Armida enters into the scenery above a heavenly chariot drawn by fire-breathing dragons.
After the production of the works "Teseo" (from 2005 on DVD), "Amadis" (where the baroque effects were shown through videos) and "Xerxes", with the "Rinaldo" project the orchestra Lautten Compagney, in collaboration with marionette theater Carlo Colla e Figli, embarks on a singular path and, at least in Germany, unique: the Baroque theater, with all its suffering and effects, revived through the puppets.

The show involves 14 puppeteers, seven singers and 26 musicians, and is represented in collaboration with the orchestra Lautten Compagney Berlin.
